Burnt Belly was my go to spot for BBQ spot when I was in the area. I always had their pulled pork sandwich special. It was so good & you couldn't beat the price. The staff was super cool & it was a chill spot to enjoy good bbq. Too bad they are now close!!!

Rating: 4.75 I've tried Burnt Belly food once when they were at Blossom Market Food Hall in San Gabriel. They were always sold out and closed early due to running out of food so fast there. I was happy when they opened up a brick & mortar restaurant in Alhambra. Due to my gluten and dairy allergies - I can only eat few of their meats and without sauce. The gentleman who worked there kindly helped and guided me on which meat is safe for me to eat - brisket, pulled pork and pork belly. The sides that are rice, cole slaw (has egg which i'm fine with), baked beans (fyi-has bacon), and french fries. The meat without the sauce, is juicy and tasty and not missing anything. I actually dipped the meat into the baked bean and it's so tasty. The bean has a kick of spice to it. It's so goodly mouthwatering and luscious that comes in some broth. The fries is one of the best fries i've had. It's crinkle cut and seasoned with some kind of paprika. It's crispy, warm, and flavorful. Order the combo if you could, it's worth more and comes with 2 or 3 sides depends on which combo you get. Plenty of sitting indoor and outdoor. Plenty of parking in the back. It's the area next to Kohls plaza where the Starbucks is. P.S: 1. They no longer have their baked crispy sweet potato that they had at The Blossom Market - which I hope they'll bring back :) 2. Hopefully they offer gluten free gochujang sauce in the future for their bibimbap dish :) Thank you and I'll look forward to trying other dishes that are allergen friendly.

We returned to Burnt Belly and it was still as delicious as last time! This time we both ordered the plates, one with BBQ chicken and one with beef brisket. My fiancé could not stop raving about how much flavor the chicken had and it looked super tender. They also were able to substitute a side salad for him bc he can't have dairy and most of the sides did have dairy. The beef brisket was everything! So tender and perfect flavor, the greens are my FAVORITE. I literally dream about them. The mac was really good with the breadcrumbs(?) on top but would use a little more flavor. The one gripe that I had about this visit was the music. There were 2 other tables besides us and I felt like they were a little offended as the restaurant was mostly playing unedited Drake and other rap songs...lots of f-bombs and n-words being thrown around, so I think this restaurant needs to be a little more mindful. It didn't bother me but I could tell it bothered others.

We've been eyeing this place for a while and finally stopped by for lunch. We ordered their lunch special pulled pork sandwich with a side. We each got a potato salad and coleslaw for the sides. The meal was super delicious and very satisfying. Will definitely order again. Next time we wanna try their brisket sandwich and some other menu items. It's a nice lil spot located in the Starbucks/Kohl's plaza off Fremont Ave. Plenty of parking in the back. Quick and friendly service. Glad there's another lunch option in the area.

Burnt Belly started as a stall in San Gabriel's Blossom Market Hall. They then found new space in Alhambra last year. Self described as traditional smoked barbecue with a Korean twist, Burnt Belly is one of my favorite places to eat in Alhambra! The meats are always smoked tender and I enjoy the addition of Korean gochuchang. Owner Kyu Yi has also been featured in publications like heysocal for his great work with Burnt Belly :) https://heysocal.com/2023/06/30/burnt-belly-opens-in-alhambra/

Best BBQ, period. I've been a fan of Burnt Belly since before this new location when they were still at Blossom. I've become a BBQ snob because I go to Texas a lot and after a decade of my friends taking me to the best places (Pecan Lodge, Terry Black's, Hutchins, Lockhart) I have trouble eating anything less. I had given up on eating any BBQ in CA for a few years, until Burnt Belly saved the day. I go here every time I'm craving BBQ (this review is long overdue because it's taken me several visits to try almost everything on the menu) and here's ten reasons why it's the absolute best: 1. Brisket burnt ends and pork belly burnt ends. This is the best I've ever had, ANYwhere (not just in Cali). Even at the best places in TX, the burnt ends are nothing like this... super tender, moist, full of flavor, and melts in your mouth. I always get the 3-meat combo and get these two and double up on one of them. 2. Sliced brisket. This is also very good, certainly the best I've had in the Western US. However, just keeping it real, I do think the brisket at Pecan Lodge and Terry Black's is better (bronze compared to those two is nothing to sneeze at). Also, when I come here I always get the burnt ends, so I only get this when I'm ordering TWO of the combos (to get 6 meats hehe). 3. Gojuchang BBQ sauce. How did I not discover this amazing taste of heaven until so late in life? I don't know how to describe this to do it justice but it is just so uniquely delicious (super flavorful but not "spicy"). I love it on my fries and I want to put it on everything I can think of. If BB starts selling this in a bottle I will buy the biggest one. 4. Miso collard greens. Best collard greens I've ever had, anywhere. I always get this as one of my sides. Very tender and flavorful but not overpowering. Everyone would eat more veggies if it tasted like this. 5. Fries. I know everyone has fries, and honestly a lot of times I don't even eat them when they are mediocre because stomach space during lunch is precious. These are usually above average, but during my most recent visit this weekend, they were so unbelievably delicious. They had lots of seasoning and they were already good by themselves, but when I dipped each one into the gojuchang BBQ sauce, I was just over the moon and all my troubles disappeared for a moment. 6. Smashed burger. This is not currently a regular menu item (it should be!) so keep an eye on the special of the day and get it every chance you can. Normally I wouldn't think of getting a burger at a really good BBQ place, but it's honestly one of the best burgers I've ever had (and I eat a lot of burgers)! It looks simple but the meat is high quality, and it's just the perfect combination of cheese, onions, crisp lettuce, sauce, and a bun that is soft but knows it is a supporting actor to not distract from the star of the show - the fresh ground patty. 7. Ribs. Also not available all the time (usually Saturdays). For some reason ribs fall into two categories for me - REALLY good or not good, but I have trouble ranking the best ribs. The point is, these are REALLY good. Tender, fall-off-the-bone, meaty, juicy, flavorful. The day I had this, I brought my friends but I didn't talk to them... it was just me eating rib after rib in blissful silence. If you talk to me when I'm in this zone I will ignore you. 8. Tropical Sweet Tea. This is so good. It's sweet but not too sweet, and it doesn't have that bitter tea leaf taste that some teas have. It has a nice tropical fruit flavor without having that thick/fake syrup taste. Normally I'm a fan of Chick-Fil-A's sweet tea, but this one is 10x better. 9. Friendly and wonderful customer service. The owners and the entire staff are the nicest people you've ever met. This weekend the smashed burger was sold out (I was sad because I was dreaming about it for weeks but I went too late which is my bad), but one of the guys in the kitchen said he had ONE more that was for his own lunch... and he was going to cut it in half and share it with me just because he saw how much I loved this burger. I couldn't do it to him but how nice are these people!? I would never give half of this burger to my best friends or my closest relatives if it was the last one. Thank you for being wonderful human beings :) 10. Oh, and parking is plentiful and easy. This place is legit. Go.

I have tried burnt belly before they moved to this location and found time to come back. Sadly I did not make it in time for their lunch special hours which had the pulled pork sandwich for a dollar off. I still ordered it anyways. The order came within 10 minutes. The pulled pork sandwich is still one of the best I've had. The pulled pork is soft and tender while drenched with some aioli. The slaw gives the sandwich a nice crunch texture to break up the softness from the meat and bun. I'm not a big fan of thicker cut fries but they were well seasoned. Overall, just as delicious as I remember. I will probably come back to try the brisket sandwich next time.

Didn't get to try this place when they were opened at Blossom Market Hall but I'm glad they were able to open their own store! There is plenty of parking at the plaza they are located at. Plentiful seating and a restroom inside. Everything on the menu looked mouthwatering but I went with the loaded baked potato with brisket. Although the brisket was slightly dry, I found it to be delicious and savory. The combination of the bbq brisket with the mac and cheese they load on top was amazing! I also tried their loaded fries with brisket and honestly wish I got that instead because of the tangy sauce goodness.
